Mission

Our charism is to be the compassionate Heart of Jesus for all people through love, service and reparation. We are Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, consecrated women of the Church. Impelled by the Spirit active in each of us and faithful to the charism of our Foundress, Blessed Clelia Merloni, we work to make the compassionate Heart of Christ better known, loved and served. We do this by personal and communal witness to the Gospel, commitment to holiness and ministry to the people of God. We are involved in education, pastoral and social service, parish and retreat ministry, health care, and missionary activity.

Qualifications

Good physical and mental health; ability to live religious life; high school diploma or beyond.

Formation

The formation program begins after a time of discernment and participation in the prepostulate program. The formal program begins with a two-year postulate which takes place at the Provincialate in Hamden. The postulant continues to discern and verify the authenticity of her call to the Apostle charism. The novitiate is a two-year program, one of which is dedicated to practical experience in a community of the province. After completing the apostolic and canonical years of the novitiate is the profession of vows, which are renewed each year for 5-9 years. The junior professed sister may live and serve in a community in the province. Two years of the temporary profession are spent in the international juniorate in Rome.
