Mission

Established in 1947 and following the eremitical and contemplative charism of the Order's founders, St. Elias the Prophet, St. Teresa of Avila, and St. John of the Cross, the nuns strive for union with God in profound silence and solitude. Called to be "love in the heart of the Church," the Discalced Carmelite nuns center their lives upon the Blessed Sacrament, especially through the Traditional Latin Mass and Breviary, offered in their chapel and choir. They aspire to aid the Church in her mission of salvation and sanctification of souls by prayer and sacrifice, especially for priests.

Qualifications

Sufficient physical health, mental health, and emotional maturity to live the monastic life. Completion of a high school education. Intention to dedicate oneself to prayer and penance for the salvation and sanctification of souls, especially priests. Fidelity to the dogmatic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Sincere desire to seek holiness and union with God.

Formation

Novitiate: A dedicated time of learning the interior life, while continuing to better follow the monastic Rule and Constitutions. Simple Profession: After intense spiritual preparation, a sister makes temporary vows of poverty, chastity and obedience Solemn Profession: A Sister received the black veil as she promises poverty, chastity and obedience...unto death, as a holocaust of love to her Divine Spouse, Jesus Christ.
