Mission
For over 800 years, the Alexian Brothers have dedicated their lives to the care of the sick, poor, dying, and marginalized people. Daily Eucharist and communal prayer support them in living their religious consecration. The Alexian Brothers continue to serve the poor, sick, and marginalized through Scripture-based fellowship; compassionate presence; and practical support. They offer meals, conversation, and encouragement to those experiencing homelessness; provide hope and assistance to individuals and families affected by incarceration, especially during re-entry into the community; and delivering food to the homebound and elderly in impoverished areas. Originating in outreach to isolated seniors, their work has expanded to address the heightened needs of vulnerable populations, particularly during the pandemic, and partnering with others to promote dignity, well-being, and inclusion for those often overlooked by society.
