Mission

We are a community of Franciscan Brothers consecrated freely to Christ by the vows of poverty, celibacy, and obedience. We live an active life of prayer, brotherhood, and service, rebuilding the Dignity of Human Life through the works of mercy. We are a public association of the faithful, following the TOR Franciscan Rule and our Community Statutes, under the gracious care of our Archbishop Bernard Hebda of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. https://brothersofpeace.org/who-we-are

Qualifications

Be committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church. Be a practicing Catholic man, receiving Eucharist and Reconciliation frequently. Be in a state of good mental, physical, and emotional health. Have a high school diploma or GED; a college or technical degree is a benefit, along with work experience. Be free of major debt. Be without any canonical impediment (i.e. any previous "marriage" must be annulled; you have no dependent children, etc.).  Be teachable, hard-working, and open to living in a close-knit community. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident, or willing to follow legal processes to discern with us. 

Formation

Postulancy: up to one year. Active life of prayer and work alongside the Brothers. Disconnecting from the secular world. Novitiate: at least "one year and one day". invested in the Habit, given a new name. Focus is prayer and formation, less work more reflection and discernment of vows. Junior Vows: the Vows of Poverty, Celibate Chastity, and Obedience are made for one year, renewed annually. A brother may begin philosophy classes in preparation toward Priestly Discernment (pre-seminary). A brother may begin specialization classes for Brotherhood Apostolates and given more responsibilities in our apostolates. Lifetime Vows: eligible after at least three years in Junior Vows. Upon Lifetime Vows, a Brother is a full member of the FBP, eligible for positions of servant-leadership, and eligible to apply for seminary to become a priest-brother in the FBP. more details: https://brothersofpeace.org/vocations/making-the-journey
