Mission

The first community of the Lovers of the Holy Cross was founded in Kien Lao, North Vietnam by French Missionary Bishop Pierre Marie Lambert de la Motte in 1670. Now, there are twenty-nine in Vietnam, three in Thailand, one in Laos, and one in Cambodia.

The Lovers of the Holy Cross of Los Angeles was established in 1992 in the United States. The sisters are now ministering in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Diocese of Orange, and the Diocese of San Bernardino. We strive to continue Christ’s mission through services to the poor and the disadvantaged, with special consideration for women and children, in the areas of healthcare, education, and social work.

Qualifications

-Be at least 18 years of age; -have equivalent education of High School Diploma; -have an average educational ability to comprehend the content of the program; -have average physical and psychological health; -have a desire to live a prayerful and apostolic life; -have the ability to live community life

Formation

-Aspirancy: 1-4 years: Age 18 and up -Pre-Novitiate: 6 months to 1 year -Novitiate: 2 years, including 12-month Canonical Novitiate -Temporary Profession: 5 or 6 years -Perpetual Profession: Ongoing formation
