Mission
The Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament were founded in 1910, in Mexico City, by Venerable Maria del Refugio Aguilar. Our Mother Foundress wanted a contemplative and active community of sisters, who, with a Mercedarian spirituality and Eucharistic charism, would live as a family. With Jesus, our Eucharistic King, as our center and Mary, our Lady of Mercy and Ransom of Captives, as our maternal protection, we have been called to evangelize the world through the education of children and youth. With Mary in the light of the Eucharist we offer our lives in oblation to God for the redemption of souls and by becoming Eucharist for all; Our work is sustained by our daily participation in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, time spent in silent adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, prayer of the Divine Office and of the Holy Rosary.
We are faithful daughters of the Church, who at present, have more than 450 sisters serving in 83 schools and missions in 12 countries.
