Mission

The Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver are at the service of the missionary Church. Our spirituality, inherited from the foundress, Blessed Mary Theresa Ledochowska, is rooted in Ignatian spirituality. At the heart of this spirituality is Christ the Redeemer, icon of the Father's love. He is the center and the reason for everything the sisters are called to do and to be. The aim of our specific apostolate is to cooperate wholeheartedly in the building of the Kingdom of God in the world, especially among the poorest and marginalized, by means of continuous prayer, the gift of self, and mission activity. We form and inform, animate and stimulate prayer, sacrifice, missionary vocations, and material help, the precious fruit of ecclesial cooperation between sister Churches.

Qualifications

Single, inspired by supernatural motives, good upbringing, good health, both physical and mental.

Formation

Formation begins with the postulancy, which lasts up to two years, depending on the actual preparation of the candidate. A novitiate of two years follows, including at least two months of apostolic activity outside the novitiate house, after which the novice may make temporary vows. The juniorate formation is flexible and can last from six to nine years. The temporary vows are renewed every year for three years and they are taken continuously for three years. Finally the sister is free to bind herself to God by perpetual vows.
