Mission

Under the Patronage of the Mother of God, we dedicate our lives to the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the holy Catholic faith, as members of the Ukrainian Catholic church. Our congregation strives to foster knowledge and appreciation of the Eastern Rite through our catechetical apostolate to youth, as well as the publication and dissemination of liturgical books, music, icons and literature.

We also bake communion bread, operate the "Treasury of Faith Museum," and provide domestic services to the hierarchy. The sisters gather together for communal prayer five times a day for Matins/First Hour, Rosary, Divine Liturgy, Meditation, Vespers, Exam of Conscience. We also devote time each day to private prayer, spiritual reading and recreation.

Qualifications

A young woman aspiring to the religious life as a Missionary Sister of Mother of God should seek to put God first in their life and entrust their vocation to Our Lady. One should have a desire for union with God through a simple life of prayer and service. We encourage those who are willing try to contact us for more information about our religious community.

Formation

Six months as a postulant, then one enters the novitiate with an investiture ceremony in which the novice is clothed in a full black habit and long white veil. The novice also receives her new name in religion. At the completion of two years the novice makes first profession of vows and is given a black veil. These temporal vows are renewed annually for three years and then again for a three year period. After this, she makes simple, final vows and is given the pectoral cross and espousal ring. During formation the Sisters receive instruction in the following areas: living the vowed life, liturgical prayer, music and traditions, Ukrainian and Old Slavonic languages, domestic skills and the teaching apostolate.
