Mission
Following in the footsteps of their foundress, St. Clare of Assisi, the Poor Clare sisters live an enclosed life of prayer and penance, in solitude and silence, occupied with God alone, urged on by love for the whole people of God. Centered on Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, their life revolves around the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Divine Office, and Eucharistic adoration.
Their contemplative dedication likewise finds expression within the cloister in humble manual labor, contemplative study, and in an intense, joy-filled community life.
Qualifications
Normal good health, a high school education, and the proper qualities of the mind and heart are the broad requisites they ask of single Catholic laywomen requesting to enter their community.
Formation
Initial formation begins with a year of aspirancy, followed by a year of postulancy, and then two years as a novice. Five years in simple temporary vows culminates in a spousal, lifelong commitment to Christ in His Church through consecration in solemn perpetual vows.
Province
Poor Clare Federation of Mary Immaculate
Belated Vocations
