Mission
Celebrating 300 years of loving God through prayer and service to His people, the School Sisters were founded in 1723 near Salzburg, Austria to educate and evangelize young people. We continue to strive to emulate the beautiful prayer life and ministries of our Mother Foundress who was a Third Order Franciscan and lived and breathed the Gospel in the spirit of St. Francis. We hope to bring an authentically feminine consecrated presence to our apostolates, which thrive through our contemplative-active life of love. Key among these works are Catholic education, marriage and family concerns, youth ministry, and a thriving downtown Coffee Shop.
The sisters were formerly known as the School Sisters of the Third Order of St Francis.
Qualifications
At least a high school diploma, good physical health, mental and emotional maturity; a willingness and desire to be formed in human and religious essence, a whole-hearted desire to serve and love God; ability to live religious life faithfully in community with others. She must have a love for the Church and desire to live our life of daily Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, all things Marian, and devotion to Franciscan spirituality. We are devoted to sharing the graces of the New Evangelization, looking to St. John Paul II’s “new springtime” in the Church.
Formation
Aspirancy (in-house) for six to nine months; Postulancy - six months; Novitiate - two years; Temporary Vows - five to six years; ongoing formation after final vows.
